Here are three simple things we can do to help direct ourselves and others to powerful, victorious living:. Proverbs My son, attend to my words; incline thine ear unto my sayings. Let them not depart from thine eyes; keep them in the midst of thine heart. For they are life unto those that find them, and health to all their flesh. Keep [guard] thy heart with all diligence; for out of it are the issues of life.
Ephesians Let no corrupt communication proceed out of your mouth, but that which is good to the use of edifying, that it may minister grace unto the hearers. James , But be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves. But whoso looketh into the perfect law of liberty, and continueth therein, he being not a forgetful hearer, but a doer of the work, this man shall be blessed in his deed.
The spoken Word of God is powerful! Click Here to download PDF. This increases their power enormously. Light from such a coherent source is powerful enough to burn a hole through a piece of steel! No wonder lasers are so extensively used in industry. The laser can also be made "tame" enough for use in delicate surgery, to reattach the retina of a human eye, for example.
10 tips on using the power of the spoken word
Laser light is extraordinary, incredibly precise in its focus and singularly powerful in its effect. Words are the lasers of human thought. Rather than scattering in all directions, thoughts, when they are expressed as words, are in phase with each other. They are all going in the same direction, and this increases their power almost beyond belief. How many times have you heard someone say or said yourself, ''I'm trying to get my thoughts together"? In joining thoughts together, they take on additional power. Like the laser, but with even greater potential, our words can create or destroy.
It is true that thoughts are supreme as the molders of our world. Thoughts are initiatory to all changes. But something else happens when we put our thoughts into sentences, when we speak the word. It sets up potent vibrations in our bodies. Speaking and hearing and feeling our thoughts impress them more fully on us than merely thinking them. Words move us into action.
When we declare our thoughts, when we speak, every atom of our bodies responds to the sound of our voices. Not only do we hear what we say, we actually feel what we say. Every word, therefore, has an effect. He is the Word of God activated.
This is how we come to know the will of God and how we know God, Himself — by listening to and trusting the Spoken Word of God, by walking in obedience to the Father, through the Lord Jesus Christ. By trusting in the Word of God and following the example set by the Lord Jesus, we are promised the ability to do everything that Christ did and more.
Power of the Spoken Word
Many children of God today never attain to this victorious life because, like the Israelites, when they hear His voice, they do not believe; as a result, their hearts are hardened. The word of God warns us to not walk in this way. Let us believe today and let the Word of God transform us! First, we are commanded to speak His Word. To speak the word faithfully means to follow the word faithfully. Our words, themselves, are powerless unless they are lived out. Can such faith save them? We must simply and sincerely believe that what God has spoken is true. Then we will begin to speak it and live it as truth.

This is faith in action. This activates the power of the Word of God within us. So whether we need freedom from sin or encouragement in our walk with Christ, it is found when we speak the Word over our hearts, our minds, and our circumstances and then walk it out. Speaking the Word of God over ourselves more simply means to completely trust that what He says is true. When we trust in this truth above our situation, we exalt Jesus Christ, who is the Truth, as Lord of our lives.
We hear it, think on it, practice it, and speak it.
Power of the Spoken Word
It is also through the Spoken Word that we defeat sin and come into true life. When we confront the sin, fear, or deceptions in our lives with the Spoken Word of God, we are activating the power of Christ, who is always victorious. We develop faith that what we think, speak, hear, and experience will be pure and in perfect unity with the will of God for our lives.
